Sean Pamphilon is an award-winning filmmaker (“playing with RAGE”) and Emmy winning documentary producer (HBO’s boxing series “Legendary Nights”) with nearly twenty years of production experience in sports television. Two months after graduating from Boston University in 1993, he began his television career as a production assistant for ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut.
Sean is the director and writer of the acclaimed documentary, Run Ricky Run that is a part of ESPN’s award-winning 30 for 30 series. Run Ricky Run, was one of four films chosen by ESPN to be entered into the International Documentary Awards competition and ultimately won its category. The 30 for 30 series, along with Run Ricky Run, also won a Peabody Award and was nominated for an Emmy.
Pamphilon has consistently fulfilled multiple roles in TV news including writer, director, on-camera talent, and producer. Since 1995, his spoken-word poetry essays have appeared on ESPN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CNN, Classic Sports and USA Networks. In 1997, Pamphilon received a Best Writing sports Emmy nomination for the spoken-word essay “Free Agent Fan”, which he produced – and was the on-camera talent in – for the X-Games.
